Mold Inspection

Our investigation identifies the presence in your home of mold and/or conditions suitable for mold growth. We use visual observation, air sampling, and surface sampling to help answer the following questions:

  • Does the home have elevated levels of airborne mold spores?

  • Are water indicator fungi present such as Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Penicillium, or Aspergillus present?

  • What types of mold are present in the home?

  • Are there signs of water intrusion (past or present) that could lead to mold?

  • Are there high humidity levels that could lead to mold?

Air Sampling

Air sampling is often used to detect elevated mold spore concentrations in the air that could lead to visible mold colonies. This method uses a small air pump to draw a measured volume of air through the sampling chamber.

Mold spores collected using the air pump are deposited on a microscope slide for visual identification (see example below). Slides are analyzed by an independent laboratory specializing in mold identification.
