Carbon monoxide is a silent, but deadly killer. Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless toxic gas and is a deadly asphyxiate at high levels. CO can be produced when incomplete and improper burning of fossil fuels occurs. When carbon monoxide is inhaled into the lungs and bonds with hemoglobin in the blood, it forms Carboxyhemoglobin (COHb). This condition displaces oxygen in the blood stream. At high concentrations this condition is fatal. At low concentrations, CO can go undetected, and contribute to headaches, nagging illnesses, and premature death.
